About Me

Why hello there!!

So I figured I should let everybody know a little bit about myself (in case you didn't see the title of this post)
So first off, my name is Aleisha (and I am super bad at introductions... I totally forgot to put my name in here til the end ) I am a pretty creative twenty-something and I have always loved beautifully decorated and scrumptiously tasting cakes, cupcakes, cookies and pretty much all other awesome food and pretty things.
I started baking for other people when I was at high school, mostly because I didn't want to go and buy something for a shared lunch that I could make for way less cost and also, a complement for the tastiness of something that I made myself felt really really good.
I suppose my whole life I have been surrounded by handmade stuff. My mum made most of the clothes I had when I was small as well as every birthday cake I and my siblings have had so far, my great grandmother made all the doilies that covered all the flat surfaces of my house and my grandmother knitted a whole heap of my baby clothes.
So there are basically two reasons that I wanted to start doing this whole bloggy thing. First, I realised that there is a gap in the pretty foods world that caters specifically for people in New Zealand, there are loads of bloggers from the UK and USA but they use ingredients and/or tools that I have either never heard of or are so horrendously expensive here that it's not worth it.
Second: I recently discovered that I am pretty sensitive to gluten and dairy so this blog is kind of a documentation of my journey through discovering how to make allergy free versions of the foods I love that taste actually good rather that just pretty good considering the absence of cream and flour. My goal is to help you, the readers to make gluten and dairy free foods that you can take to a party and still get those very same compliments that I mentioned earlier. So whether you are a freer yourself or trying to cater for someone who is, I want to help you create the kinds of foods that look good AND taste good.
So thanks for reading, I hope it lives up to your expectations.

Best
Aleisha
